It all started in 1981 with a Hycom 2000 cb radio transceiver 22 channels 0.5 watts and a mobile antenna on the roof. Talk to friends in the neighborhood. In 1983 I bought an Electronica 360 a 120 channel AM / SSB cb transceiver.

I made my first dx contact in 1984 and from 1988 I tried to work 30 DXCC to become a member of the Alfa Tango group. A QSO into Austria in 1988 with 35AT114 Andy.

The bug bite me, from now on mainly dx- contacts were made. I did belong to many dx groups like: Sperimental Radio (Sugar Radio) , World Wide Radio Group, Knight Patrol and many others. In 1989 a became a member of the Alfa Tango DX group from Italy. My callsign was 19AT409.
In 1992 I went on dx- pedition with two Dutch friends [19AT095 Aldert en 19AT412 Matthijs] and on Saint Martin we met de other half of the team 26AT318 Bob and 26AT429 Tim from England in the West Indies. We have activated Antigua 120AT-cc, Sint Maarten 166AT-cc, Saint Martin 207AT-cc and Anguilla 219AT-cc. We stayed with Ronny 166AT101 in Philipsburg Sint Maarten and could use his station. Bob and Tim used 207AT102 Ron’s station. For the activation of Anguilla we had to bring a radio and antenna. Our location was the inter Island Hotel. In Antigua, Aldert and Matthijs used the station of Barrymore 120AT101. A linear amp build by Bart 19AT684 and brought from The Netherlands provided a good signal.

In 1993 We then visited Alfa Tango meetings in The Netherlands, Belgium and England.

19AT471 Wim, 19AT412 Matthijs.
Meeting radio friends at meetings was great. I have had the best encounters during my travels in Mexico and Colombia. In Mexico City I met Enrique [10AT110] and his son Eric [10AT128] together with Raul [10AT114] I had 2 great days.

In 1999 I was in Colombia and in Cali I was a guest for 8 days by Eduardo [6AT175] and Elizabeth. They showed me Cali and Buga.

My station back then Icom IC 736, Hosiden deskmicrophone, Ameritron AL811HXCE, 2 elements Qubical Quad @ 12 meters

QSL -cards
An important part of the hobby is sending QSL cards. This is kind of a business card from your station. You can write down the details of the connection that has been established.
